2025 Boston Urban Forest Friends Symposium
Healing Our Land, Healing Ourselves — Connecting Environmental Health to Community Well-Being
The 2025 Boston Urban Forest Friends (BUFF) Symposium is a powerful gathering of community members, advocates, practitioners,
and thought leaders committed to environmental justice, health equity, and the future of Boston’s urban forest.
This year’s theme—"Healing Our Land, Healing Ourselves"—invites us to examine the deep connections between the environment and public health. As our communities continue to face the compounded challenges of climate change, pollution, and systemic inequities, we recognize that environmental degradation is not just an ecological issue, but a pressing public health crisis. Neighborhoods that have historically experienced environmental injustices also face stark disparities in life expectancy, respiratory illness, mental health outcomes, and access to green space.
We are gathering to reflect, to learn, and to act. Together, we will explore how investing in trees, parks, and community-led environmental restoration is a path to healing—not only for the land, but for ourselves and future generations.
The Symposium will feature dynamic speakers, interactive panel sessions, and opportunities to build partnerships across health, climate, and community sectors.
Join us as we work collectively to center equity in our urban greening efforts, lift up local health solutions, and build a more just and resilient Boston for all.
